Distinguished and Famous people from Dromana
🖌️ Georgiana McCrae
Artist and diarist Georgiana McCrae lived with her family at the Arthur’s Seat run near Dromana from 1845 to 1851. The surviving homestead is in the locality now called McCrae, preserving a particular place within the peninsula’s broader history. She painted portraits and watercolours and kept a journal that became an important record of colonial life. Her observations bring personality and domestic detail into a history often told through landholdings and public offices, revealing the work, relationships and frustrations behind an early pastoral household.
